The Bleeding Lion is excited to read your work! We are a journal of contemporary arts and letters with a special focus on anatomy, cross-cultural, visual arts & diverse pieces. We especially like pieces that do not fit into conventional genres or canons, pieces with great emotional candor, pieces that haunt, grip and refuse to let us go back to the world. We also love macabre or suspenseful pieces, confessionals & quiet pieces, scientific & borderline macabre pieces. Acceptance is based solely on quality of your work.

General guidelines: absolutely NO previously published work (yes, even if it was only on your blog). YES to simultaneous submissions, notify us immediately if your piece is accepted elsewhere. If your piece is accepted, TBL acquires first serial rights, which revert back to the author upon publication. We kindly ask acknowledgement for subsequent reprints of your work. Reading period is year round; response time is 2-4 weeks or sooner.
